Our Florizontal® hives incorporate all the advantages of my Horizontal hives with the ease of harvesting for which the Flow Hive is most appealing.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The Florizontal® is designed to fit genuine Flow frames only. Some of the non-genuine frames available online are not compatible.
I designed this Horizontal hive with Flow frames incorporated, to enable people with physical limitations or mobility issues to be able to enjoy beekeeping independently. Also, a lot of beekeepers where not aware of just how heavy a box of flow frames full of honey would be, and are struggling to lift off the honey super to attend to the bees in the brood box. This configuration gives them the ability to continue to use the Flow system which attracted them to beekeeping in the first place, while being able to fulfil their obligations to the health of the colony.
It is made from products designed to resist the elements – marine ply, with all exterior hardware in stainless steel. The entrance landing strip material is treated pine and the hive comes with ant feet (also stainless steel) to stop the hive becoming infested by ants.
